Increase 20% income by bing optimizing

Bing and Yahoo! together make up a quarter of search traffic, and these Bing search engine users tend to click on ads more than Googlers. You could be missing out on a higher rate of conversion!

If you’re not seeing a large chunk of valuable traffic from Bing and Yahoo!, you are missing out on a lot of potential of ad revenue – on average, non-Bing-optimized web sites are missing out on a 20% boost in revenue, and a 9.4% boost in traffic.

So, what’s to be done? A few tips to check on your Bing-ability:

1. In your robots.txt file, make sure the Bing spider is allowed to crawl your site (yes, many sites only allow Google to index them)
2. Compare how many of your pages are indexed in Bing and Google, by searching ‘site:yourwebsite.com’ in each engine
3. Use what Microsoft gives you. Make sure that you are not already using Bing’s webmaster tools
4. If you use AdWords to generate traffic, make sure you’re also using Microsoft’s AdCenter

The message is that you need your website maximized for Bing. Google remains the dominant search engine, but you need to start paying attention to Bing too.
